Achievements Made in Road Construction and River Improvement

| Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- Many achievements have been made in road construction and river improvement of the DPRK this year as part of the efforts to implement the decision of the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea which called for pushing ahead with the land management. More than 1,000 km-long roads and 200 bridges have been constructed or technically improved throughout the country. South Phyongan Province upgraded the Phyongsong-Nampho road by removing nearly 200,000 cubic meters of earth and building thousands square meters of revetment. Hongwon County of South Hamgyong Province finished the repair of tunnel pavements in a short span of time. Similar projects were also carried out in Sinuiju City of North Phyongan Province, Munchon City of Kangwon Province, Unryul County of South Hwanghae Province, Kowon County of South Hamgyong Province and Paekam County of Ryanggang Province. Successes were also made in river improvement. Tokchon City of South Phyongan Province completed the project for embankment of vast riverside in a little more than two months, thus securing dwelling-houses and land against flood. The same is true of Pyongyang City, Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province and other cities and counties. |
