S. Koreans Call for De-pollution of U.S. Military Base

| Pyongyang, December 8 (KCNA) -- South Koreans including members of the People's Solidarity for the Revision of Unequal South Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" held a press conference near the Ryongsan U.S. Military Base on Dec. 5 in demand of a full-scale inquiry into the pollution in the base, its de-pollution and modification of SOFA, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Thongil News. They released a statement there. Noting the Ryongsan Base is seriously polluted by cancer-causing toxic materials, the statement said the issue of pollution is directly related to the heath and safety of people including the inhabitants near the base. They urged the U.S. forces in south Korea and the regime to open to public the final results of the recent inquiry into the base, their stands on the issue and plans immediately. |
