"Tonggukyojisungnam" was got up by Ro Sa Sin, Ryang Song Ji and other personages in 1481, but later, was revised by Ri Haeng, Hong On Phil and others.

While compiling "Sinjungdonggukyojisungnam", its editors put a mark of "Sinjung (identified)" on newly supplemented data with corresponding comments in order to distinguish them from the original contents of "Tonggukyojisungnam".

Vols. 1 and 2 deal with topographical features of Kyongdo (the capital of the country), vol. 3 Hansongbu, vols. 4 and 5 Kaesongbu, vols. 6-13 Kyonggi Province, vols. 14-20 Chungchong Province, vols. 21-32 Kyongsang Province, vols. 33 and 40 Jolla Province, vols. 41-43 Hwanghae Province, vols. 44-47 Kangwon Province, vols. 48-50 Hamgyong Province and vols. 51-55 Phyongan Province.

"Sinjungdonggukyojisungnam", a comprehensive collection of geographical study achievements made in Korea, is one of precious geographical heritages of the Korean nation.
