Achievements Made in Light Industry of DPRK
Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has directed efforts to putting the light industry on a Juche and modern basis this year and thus made many achievements conducive to the improvement of people's living.

Though the U.S. and its followers have remained persistent in their moves to stifle the DPRK by adding raw materials and equipment to the sanctions list, technicians and workers in the field of light industry have strived to put the production on a normal basis, regarding the self-reliance and self-development as the lifeline for the development of light industry.

The Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill set up a workshop to produce cellular fabrics necessary for making consumer goods like bag, sportswear and shoes.

The Pyongyang Rayon Factory began producing tetron rayon and created the capacity of producing thousands tons of reclaimed rayon per year with waste yarn from various textile mills.

Completed in the textile and knitting industrial fields were technical preparations for making use of vinalon and polypropylene plastic fiber produced by the February 8 Vinalon Complex and Namhung Youth Chemical Complex.

The Pyongyang Wheat Flour Processing Factory, Pyongyang Condiments Factory, Sonhung Foodstuff Factory and other factories established various production processes with their own efforts to regularize the production of scores of kinds of functional and natural foodstuffs for the improvement of people's health and dietary life.

The 28th National Exhibition of Consumer Goods held in October served as an occasion to show well the aspects of light industry developing in the spirit of self-reliance and self-development.

All the achievements made this year inspire technicians and workers in the field of light industry with the firm faith that the believe in their own strength will surely bring about a radical turn in their efforts to put the light industry on a higher Juche and modern basis and rapidly improve the people's livelihood.
