Coins to Be Minted in DPRK to Mark Kim Jong Suk's 100th Birthday

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- Commemorative coins "The 100th birth anniversary of Comrade Kim Jong Suk, the anti-Japanese war heroine" will be minted in the DPRK on the threshold of the said anniversary. The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly promulgated a decree in this regard on Dec. 11. The coins will be minted in gold and silver. Seen in the centre of the fronts of the gold and silver coins is the image of Kim Jong Suk wearing the military uniform. There are letters reading "Birth of the anti-Japanese war heroine Comrade Kim Jong Suk" in the upper part and the letters "1917-2017 Centenary" in the lower part decorated with laurel tree and 100 dots. Inscribed in relief in the centre of their back sides is Kim Jong Suk's old home in Hoeryong under Mt Paektu, the holy mountain of revolution, with the background of rays of light. Seen in the upper parts of the coins are words "The Central Bank of the DPRK" and in their lower parts letters "Juche 106 (2017)", degree of purity, weight and 100 dots. The size of the pure gold commemorative coin is 35 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness and that of pure silver commemorative coin 40 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness. |
