On this occasion, the army and people of the DPRK are recollecting with deep emotion the immortal feats of Kim Jong Il who made a long journey for Songun (military-first) leadership with ardent love for the country and trust in the people and servicepersons.

In his lifetime, he inspected a number of KPA units including frontline units in Chol Pass, Mt Osong, Cho Islet and Panmunjom.

In particular, Mt Osong is a historic place witnessing how many difficulties and ordeals he had overcome under the uplifted banner of Songun in the period of the Arduous March, the forced march.

He had kept on inspecting the unit on Mt Osong where anyone should pass through over 150 steep curves to reach its top.

It was one day in August Juche 87 (1998) that he left for the unit on Mt Osong despite of sloppy road due to a long spell of rainy weather. Pushing the car and tiding over dangerous moments to pass through the curves, he finally arrived at the forward command post on the top of the mountain and showed great loving care for servicepersons.

Later, he said that he had pursued the Songun politics to defend the country, noting that Mt Osong symbolic of Songun reminded him of the period of the Arduous March, the forced march.

Indeed, his ceaseless inspection for Songun revolutionary leadership was a long march of great devotion made by the peerlessly great man.

Therefore, Mt Osong will always shine as the symbol of Songun to eternize the immortal Songun exploits Kim Jong Il performed on behalf of the country and the people.
