S. Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Declares Fresh Campaign This Year

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- According to the south Korean online newspaper Jaju Sibo, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a meeting before the grave of Jon Thae Il in Kyonggi Province on Jan. 2 and declared its will to carry on the struggle for realizing the demands of workers this year.

At the meeting, the chairman of the confederation newly elected last year made a speech. He said that now is the time for all to join efforts for social solidarity.

Earlier on January 1 the chairman announced the confederation's action program for this year.

He said that the confederation would conduct a joint campaign together with the Federation of Trade Unions to have the demands of workers met.

He stressed that they would wage a vigorous struggle for peace against war, conclusion of DPRK-U.S. peace accord, independent national reunification, probe into the truth about "Sewol" tragedy, repeal of the "agreement" on sexual slavery and halt to the deployment of THAAD.
