Rodong Sinmun Slams U.S. and S. Korean Regime's Moves to Stifle DPRK
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean authorities held the second high-level meeting of the diplomatic and defense council for carrying out the extended deterrent strategy in Washington recently.

The meeting decided to further intensify the two sides' cooperation for extended deterrence in order to settle the "nuclear issue". It also discussed such issues as constant rotation deployment of the U.S. strategic assets in south Korea and its vicinity under the pretext of "nuclear and missile threat" of someone.

Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Saturday says:

The said meeting is just offending as it is aimed to tighten cooperation in stifling the DPRK, only to chill the atmosphere of improving the north-south relations.

Historically, the U.S., displeased with any sign of improving north-south relations and detente on the Korean peninsula, always poured cold water on such development.

What matters is the behavior of the south Korean authorities going against the desire of the nation for reunification at the U.S. beck and call.

Now the south Korean authorities persist in stoking military confrontation to do harm to the compatriots in the north, pursuant to the U.S. policy aimed to hamstring the efforts for detente on the Korean peninsula and repair of the inter-Korean relations.

Right after the meeting the south Korean military talked about earlier establishment of the "triad strike system" for tackling someone's "nuclear and missile threat", regular deployment of U.S. strategic assets and tightened military cooperation with the U.S.

Now is the time for the authorities of south Korea to behave more reasonable than ever before.

They should know that such ill-intended military confab with the U.S. is just a foolish act of pouring water on the spark of the improved north-south relations and ruining their destiny.
