Javid Ahmad, director of the Administrative Department of the Kuwait Times who doubles as chairman of the Kuwait Asian Journalist Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee set a celebration period from Jan. 18 to Feb. 18 and decided to organize colorful political and cultural events including seminar and film show praising Kim Jong Il's revolutionary career and exploits in the period.
