What should not be overlooked is the fact that the Japanese authorities are trying to stir up the anti-Chongryon atmosphere, building up public opinion over this case through media.

Officials of Chongryon and its affiliated organizations and Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters, members of the Korean Youth League and other Korean residents in Japan staged a strong protest outside the office of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters, holding slogan boards and placards reading "We denounce the Japanese police authorities' unwarranted oppression of Chongryon".
