Minju Joson Slams Push for Resumption of U.S.-S. Korea Joint Military Exercises

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Mackenzie, director of strategic planning and policy department of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, during his recent official appearance, when asked if there is any plan to suspend south Korea-U.S. combined military drill, answered that "schedule was adjusted" and "it will be resumed immediately". The following day, a spokesman for the U.S. Defense Department and the U.S. charge d' affairs a.i. in south Korea said that the south Korea-U.S. combined military exercises "would start promptly". The U.S., in the meantime, has been closeted with the south Korean military warmongers over the resumption of the joint military exercises. At the instructions of the master, the south Korean military is trumpeting about "carrying out as usual" the joint military exercises with the U.S. A commentary of Minju Joson Tuesday says that the busy moves of the U.S. and the south Korean military warmongers are truly disgusting as they seek the resumption of the war exercises against the north behind the scene although they talk that they "welcome 100 percent" the detente on the Korean Peninsula. As admitted by the public at home and abroad, the south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises are dangerous saber-rattling aimed at invasion of the north, the commentary notes, and goes on: The situation clearly proves that the U.S. is a harasser of peace on the Korean peninsula, the chief culprit of the worsening situation and a main stumbling block lying in the way for the reunification of Korea. What matters is the bellicose ill-advised bravery of the south Korean military chiming in with the U.S. racket for the resumption of the war exercises. It is as clear as noonday that the situation on the Korean peninsula will be reduced to a grave catastrophic phase again if the large-scale joint military exercises are resumed in south Korea. The U.S. and the south Korean military warmongers have to hold due responsibility for pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the grim one. |
