Referring to the fact that a unified team of the south and the north was formed and the cheering group, art troupe and Taekwon-do demonstration group of the north are to visit south Korea on the occasion of the Winter Olympics, the appeal said:

Youth and students in the south and the north and abroad who love peace and reunification should smash the anti-reunification and anti-peace moves of the conservative forces at home and abroad to make the Winter Olympics a festival of peace.

The appeal urged the youth and students to turn out in the struggle against any action of escalating tension, under the banner of peace against war.
