They stress that the foundation of the KPA by President Kim Il Sung on February 8, Juche 37 (1948) was a historic event of great significance in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Rodong Sinmun says:

President Kim Il Sung is the founder-builder of the heroic KPA.

After the liberation of the country the building of regular armed forces became an urgent task which brooks no moment's delay due to the U.S. imperialists' occupation of south Korea and massive war preparations. With deep insight into the prevailing situation and lawful requirement of the developing revolution, the President set forward the building of the regular revolutionary armed forces as the top priority of the state affairs and directed utmost efforts to it. He successfully accomplished the cause of the building of the regular revolutionary armed forces in less than three years under the difficult conditions where there was neither experience nor foundation. It is the immortal revolutionary exploit that could be performed only by the President, an outstanding statesman, military genius and peerless patriot.

President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il wisely led the Korean revolutionary armed forces to demonstrate the invincible might with outstanding military idea and rare commanding art. The revolutionary character of the KPA which has firmly maintained its nature as the Party's revolutionary armed forces down through generations is associated with the clairvoyance of the great leaders. And its mettle as an invincible army that has set an example in the world history of anti-imperialist struggle, assuming the perfect features of regular army and forming a harmonious whole with the civilians is also associated with the seasoned guidance of the leaders.

Today the KPA ushers in a heyday of its development under the guidance of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

The KPA under his guidance will bravely open a broad avenue for the Juche revolution, demonstrating its tremendous might.

Minju Joson says that the KPA is an invincible revolutionary army which paved an original path for building regular revolutionary armed forces in the era of independence and has firmly carried forward the ever-victorious history and tradition under the guidance of the peerlessly great men.
