DPRK Art Troupe Gives Congratulatory Performance in Kangrung of S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The art troupe of the DPRK on Thursday began a congratulatory performance in Kangrung of south Korea ahead of the opening of the 23rd Winter Olympics. The venue of the performance was crowded with many people from across south Korea to enjoy the congratulatory performance. The performance were enjoyed by Jo Myong Gyun, minister of Unification, Chu Mi Ae, representative of the Minju Party, Choe Mun Sun, governor of south Kangwon Province, and other personages of the south side and south Koreans. Among the audience were Kwon Hyok Bong, Hyon Song Wol and other leading members of the art troupe of the DPRK. Put on the stage of the performance, which began with overture "Glad to See You" and "Fall, White Snow," were colorful numbers such as light music "Pyongyang Is Best" and string ensemble and female solo "Morning Star". The performers well represented through their rich voice and skilled rendition the musical emotion of the resourceful and intelligent Korean nation with the history of 5 000 years and brilliant culture. The DPRK artistes well portrayed world famous songs including "Arirang" from orchestra "Dear Melodies". They also put on the stage south Korean songs. The audience broke into cheers and loud applause whenever numbers changed as they were mesmerized by the peculiar arts spiced with strong national flavor. The performers concluded with female trio "Mts. Paektu and Halla Are Part of My Motherland" and finale "Our Wish Is Reunification" and "See You Again" reflecting the will of all Koreans to put an end to the tragedy of national division as soon as possible and bring earlier the national reunification by their concerted efforts. The performance was enthusiastically applauded by the audience. |
