Minju Joson Slams U.S. for Seeking to Pit Koreans against One Another

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. recently let high-ranking figures of the White House, the State Department, the Defense Department, the Central Intelligence Agency and Congress call for tightening sanctions and pressure on the DPRK. Commenting on this, Minju Joson Friday says: Some days ago, the U.S. made public independent additional sanctions against the DPRK and the following day it sent the undersecretary of the Treasury Department to south Korea to put pressure on the south Korean authorities to keep close cooperation for putting sanctions and pressure on the DPRK. At confabs that were held abroad one after another such as Vancouver foreign ministerial meeting and the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group meeting of senior south Korean and U.S. foreign affairs and defense officials and south Korea-U.S. defense ministerial talks, they discussed the issue on "denuclearization of the north". They also say that they will immediately resume south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises after working out a plan to keep reinforcing nuclear carrier strike group and ultra-modern fighters in and around the Korean peninsula. They are also holding drill for air strike targeting the DPRK in collaboration with the Japan Air "Self-Defense Force." Such frantic moves are the height of the U.S.-style craftiness to drive a wedge between the north and the south, add to the atmosphere for discord, antipathy, hostility and conflict among the fellow countrymen, and thus keep holding initiative over the Korean peninsula issue. The U.S. criminal moves to disrupt peace by way of estranging the Koreans have adverse impact on keeping stability in neighboring countries, to say nothing of the Korean peninsula. This is not a secret. The criminal state keen on pitting Koreans against Koreans by dividing the Korean nation is the U.S. The situation clearly proves that as long as the U.S. sinister intention and interference continues, it would be hard to expect independent, smooth and unified development of the Korean nation and that the peace and stability on the Korean peninsula will be seriously threatened. |
