The scene of the valley covered with hoar frost is regarded as one of eight famous scenes of the Sobaeksu Valley.

In this regard, Kim Un Sim, a lecturer of the Management Office for Revolutionary Battle Sites in the Secret Camp of Mt Paektu, told KCNA:

There are springs around leader Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp, which flow into the Sobaeksu Stream even in winter. And the temperature of spring water is about 4 degrees.

In winter, the spray of the Sobaeksu Stream decorates its surroundings with frost flowers.

The DPRK people love the frost flowers in the valley which reflect their ardent yearning for Kim Jong Il and their firm will to materialize his lifelong desire.
