Omar Lopez, chairman of the Venezuelan National Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected honorary chairman of the preparatory committee and Felix Jesus Velasquez Castillo, general coordinator of the Federal Political Secretariat of the United Left Party of Venezuela, was elected chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to hold diverse political and cultural events in praise of the exploits performed by the peerlessly great men in accomplishing the socialist cause and the global cause of independence on the occasion of the 106th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung and the 76th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il.
