Japanese Reactionaries' Suppression of Chongryon, Koreans in Japan under Fire

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The Japan police authorities recently arrested the former chairman of the Katsushika Branch of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on the charges of "violation of the law on secondhand dealers". Afterwards the joint investigation headquarters, made up of policemen from the Metropolitan Police Office and Saitama Prefecture of Japan hurled more than 100 armed policemen to search the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon and the house of a Chongryon official and the Future Foundation set up for support for the Korean schools, charging that the bankbook of the former Chongryon branch chairman had a record of remitting money to Chongryon.

This case is not an investigation into the "violation of the law on secondhand dealers" but a product of premeditated politically-motivated plot targeting Chongryon, Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says in a commentary, adding:

The reality glaringly shows that the island country Japan has been turned into a state of gangsters and source of crimes.

It is the sinister intention of the Abe group to fan up the anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon atmosphere across Japan by branding Chongryon, a dignified overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK, as an "illegal body" and "unlawful body" and aggravating the situation on the Korean Peninsula and thus pave the way for realizing the militaristic ambition.

Chongryon is part of the DPRK and the Japanese reactionaries' suppression of Chongryon means a hostile act to the DPRK.

The Japanese authorities would be well advised to bear in mind that they would face a miserable destruction if they resort to such provocations as despicable and brutal suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan in disregard of our repeated warnings.
