In February Juche 104 (2015) respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un made public a famous work "Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country with Green Woods", which serves as a banner encouraging all the army and people to the grand nature-remaking project.

The first-phase tasks for the forest restoration campaign were carried out in the country.

After the construction of the land- and manpower-saving tree nursery, a model in the work to put the sampling production on a scientific, industrial and intensive basis, mother tree nurseries were built or remodeled in different parts of the country to produce billions of saplings.

17 mother tree nurseries were reconstructed in Kangwon Province and one hundred and dozens of mother tree nurseries built or rebuilt in Kanggye and Kimchaek cities, Thaechon, Mundok, Riwon and other counties. Thousands of hectares of sapling production areas were expanded and hundreds of thousands of hectares of forests created.

Pyongyang and Rason cities and Jagang and North and South Phyongan provinces fulfilled their plans for afforestation on an annual basis, while North Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces and Nampho City ensured the rooting rate of trees at over 90 percent by using various biological activators.

A national commanding system was perfected to prevent forest fires from breaking out; many observatories and mobile monitoring posts have been established and fire companies organized in the provinces, cities and counties (districts).

The Academy of Forest Science under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection cultivated oil-bearing trees and other high-yielding varieties of trees and established a technology of dense planting. Forest science institutes and forest administration units made valuable achievements. More than 160 efficient machines were introduced into the forest restoration campaign.
