Its compilation was begun in 1392, the birth year of the Feudal Joson Dynasty (1392-1910), and finished in 1451.

It consists of 139 volumes and the most of its historical data is sourced from "Koryo Sillok (Chronicles of Koryo)" and other history books.

Its content is also systemized into astronomy, geography, calendar, military affairs, farming, music, etc., while dealing with biographies of famous persons of Koryo and scientific and cultural achievements made by its people.

Seen in it are data about some Eastern countries like China, Japan and Mongolia and even those about some races like Nuchen which left no independent historical records.

Despite of the shortcomings due to its compilers' class interests and the limitation of the time, it serves as precious historical data in the research into the histories of Koryo and the East.
