Damian Ogbonna, national chairman of the People's Progressive Party of Nigeria, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize colorful political and cultural events such as round-table talks, book exhibition and film show to praise the revolutionary career of President Kim Il Sung and introduce successes registered by the army and people of the DPRK in the struggle for building a powerful socialist nation and reunifying the country on the occasion of his birth anniversary, the Day of the Sun.
