Construction of Tanchon Power Station Progresses Apace
Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- The first-stage project of the construction of the Tanchon Power Station progresses apace in the DPRK.

According to data available, its builders carried out the excavation of bedrocks for power stations No. 1 and 5 at 55 percent and tunneling of working pits at 44 percent and several units began heading the main waterway tunnel.

Soldier builders in charge of the construction of the Tanchon Power Station No. 1 have introduced rational methods to speed up the installation of conical pipe and concrete revetment of spillway, while removing over 800 cubic meters of earth everyday to lay pressure pipeline.

Soldier builders in charge of the waterway tunnel dug through more than 2,000 meters of pilot tunnel by raising the efficiency of blasting.

Those in charge of building the Sinhong Dam of the Power Station No. 5 excavate at least 500 cubic meters of bedrock everyday.

Scientists and technicians determined the destination of waterway tunnel and position of water intake in a scientific way, thus reducing the amount of bedrock excavation and concrete tamping.

And they have made contributions to hastening the tunneling by detecting the positions of working pits and danger sections with the method of topographical analysis and applying fume-removing technology, blast remote-controller, mobile meter for measuring heat of hydration and others.
