Zaher al Khatib, secretary general of the Lebanon Federation of Workers and chairman of the Lebanese Committee for Support to the Reunification of Korea, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee set a celebration period from March 12 to April 15 and decided to give wide publicity to the exploits of Kim Il Sung through media and hold various political and cultural events in this period.
