Kirunda Kivejinja, second deputy prime minister, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

At an inaugural ceremony of the preparatory committee the chairman underscored the need to highly praise Kim Il Sung as the father of socialist Korea and eternal leader of the Korean people, give wide publicity to his career and exploits through media and hold seminar, lecture, film show and other political and cultural events on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
