Modernization of Iron and Steel Production Pushed Forward
Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Modernization gains momentum at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, one of leading ferrous metallurgical bases in the DPRK, as part of its efforts to increase the quality and productivity of iron and steel.

The complex, in close cooperation with sci-tech institutes, has introduced advanced technologies into upgrading oxygen heat blast furnace, while directing efforts to deciding on rational proportions of raw materials and melting regulations.

It has also ensured the normal operation of large oxygen separators which play important role in the production of Juche iron. In particular, due attention has been paid to keeping dynamic balance between air and oxygen compressors and expander and applying advanced methods like heat-preserving of equipment.

At the same time, the complex has pushed ahead with the introduction of refining, micro-alloying and other technologies to raise the quality of metallic products and produce alloyed steels, including stainless and silicon steels, with locally available raw materials.

And it is being carried out at the complex to install the electromagnetic induction agitator in continuous casting machine and build a fluidized-bed gas generator for a heating furnace.
