Functional Nano Plastic Sheet for Rice-seedling Bed to Be Used in Agricultural Sector

Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Quality functional nano plastic sheet for rice-seedling bed is to be widely used in the agricultural sector of the DPRK this year. The sheet, developed by the Agricultural Nano Technology Institute under the Institute of Agricultural Science, was introduced into farms of Pyongyang City and some provinces, including South Hwanghae Province, enjoying popularity.

In this regard, Han Chol Nam, section chief of the institute, told KCNA:

The efficiency and effectiveness of the sheet have been proved in reality in recent years.

Its resistance to ultraviolet is stronger than the ordinary sheet.

The sheet does not tear easily. And it is 1.5 times in tensile strength and 2 times in extension rate compared with the preceding one.

The sheet helps raise the temperature of rice-seedling bed one degree centigrade and hasten the date of germination of seed, while increasing the germination rate by 3-5 percent and health rate of rice seedling by 5 percent.

The sheet also makes it possible to lower the incidence of rice seedling blast due to frost damage.
