Remodeling of Cemetery of Fallen Soldiers of CPV Starts
Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- Remodeling of the Cemetery of Fallen Soldiers of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) in Kangdong County, Pyongyang City started with due ceremony on Friday on the occasion of Chongmyong (one of the 24 seasonal divisions in Korea).

In the cemetery there are remains of soldiers of the CPV, who fell in the fight against the imperialist allied forces during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Present at the ceremony were Choe Song Chol, vice-minister of Urban Management, officials concerned and working people in Kangdong County, Li Jinjun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and his embassy officials and Chinese guests staying here including various delegations.

Wreaths in the names of the Ministry of Urban Management, the Pyongyang City People's Committee, the Chinese embassy and several Chinese delegations were laid at the cemetery.

The participants paid a silent tribute in memory of the fallen CPV soldiers.

Li Jinjun said that the Chinese People's Volunteers and the army and people of the DPRK waged a hard-fought struggle shoulder to shoulder during the Korean War and that the contributions made by the fallen soldiers who showed the militant friendship between the two peoples by devoting their precious lives and youths would be remembered.

He hoped that the remodeling of the cemetery, which is of important significance in developing the traditional China-DPRK friendship, would be completed on the highest level by the joint efforts.

Choe Song Chol referred to the heroic feats of the CPV fighters who bravely fought with the Korean people against the common enemy under the banner of resisting America and aiding Korea, safeguarding the home and defending the motherland during the Fatherland Liberation War.

He stressed the need to finish the remodeling of the cemetery by the appointed day and thus contribute to making the feats of the fallen soldiers be long cherished in the minds of the armies and peoples of the two countries.

The participants broke ground.
