Present at the ceremony were Ho Jong Man, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Pae Ik Ju, its vice-chairman, Kang Chu Ryon, its vice-chairwoman and chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan, Song Kun Hak, director of the Education Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Han Tong Song, rector of Korean University, Jang Pyong Thae, honorary professor of Korean University, senior officials of the central organizations and business bodies of Chongryon, new comers and parents, teachers and students of the university and Koreans in Japan.

Congratulatory messages from the Education Commission of the DPRK and several universities of the homeland were introduced at the ceremony.

Ho Jong Man said in his congratulatory speech that Korean University is a historical and traditional, dignified university of overseas citizens of the DPRK. The great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il showed deep loving care for the university and the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is meticulously leading the university, he added.

Rector Han Tong Song made a report at the ceremony to be followed by speeches.
