Present there were Ri Hye Jong, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, teachers, researchers, lecturers, journalists, editors and officials in the fields of science, education, press, preservation of revolutionary relics and party cadre training organs.

The seminar heard the papers explaining and proving the historic significance of the conference held at the initiative of the President and under his guidance.

Speakers said that the conference held in April Juche 37(1948) was the first historic victory won by the patriotic pro-reunification forces of the north and the south, true to the President's independent line for national reunification and idea of great national unity.

They noted that representatives from 56 political parties and social organizations in the north and the south, which had more than ten million members, took part in the joint conference in response to the patriotic call of Kim Il Sung with the will to accomplish the great cause common to the nation together with all the forces that love the country and the nation. This clearly showed how strong the patriotic desire of the Korean nation for independent national reunification was, they said.

The joint conference proved that different political forces and people from all walks of life could unite in the struggle for the cause common to the nation though they had differing ideology and isms, political views and religious belief and that independent and peaceful reunification of the country can be realized when the north and south get harmonious and the whole nation gets united, they stressed.
