During the contest, competitions in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war and other events will be made at gymnasiums, stadiums and sports parks in Pyongyang and provinces.

Its opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium Thursday.

Present there were officials concerned and officials and players in the public health field and teachers and students of Pyongyang Medical College under Kim Il Sung University.

Minister of Public Health Jang Jun Sang made an opening speech.

At the end of the ceremony there were a Taekwon-Do demonstration by officials of central level healthcare institutions and a men's volleyball match between players from Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University and the Korea General Red Cross Hospital.

The contest will last until May 1.
