Attending the festival, whose theme is the local production of raw and other materials and equipment and integration of science and technology with economy, are scientists, technicians and officials of more than 500 units selected at the festivals of commissions, ministries, national institutions and provinces (municipality).

The festival will be divided into 29 panels including power, metal, chemistry, machinery, coal, construction, IT and bio-engineering. There will be exhibition and presentation of scientific and technical achievements, made in the drive for putting the national economy on a Juche, modern, IT and scientific basis, and exchanges of new technologies and service of new goods exchange.

Its opening ceremony took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House Monday.

Present there were Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Pak Thae Song, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, and officials concerned and working people.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the festival venue.
