Department Director General of DPRK FM Visits Some African Countries
Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- The director general of the Africa, Arab and Latin American Affairs Department of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK and his party recently visited Kenya, South Africa, DR Congo, Congo, Zimbabwe, Togo and Mali.

During the visit, he paid courtesy calls on the minister of University and Higher Education, the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of DR Congo and the deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa and others, and separately met with senior figures including the director general of Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the secretary general of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of DR Congo, the deputy secretary general of Congolese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Overseas Compatriots, the deputy director general of South African Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, the deputy director general of Zimbabwean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the secretary general of Togolese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the secretary general of Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

At courtesy calls and talks he reiterated the DPRK's stand to further develop the historical and traditional friendship and relations of support and solidarity between the DPRK and the African countries.

He explained that the DPRK has towered as a strategic state recognized by the world and an atmosphere of tension reduction and peace has been created and dramatic changes are being made in the Korean peninsula and region by the proactive action and efforts made by the DPRK.

The above-said senior figures expressed their satisfaction over the fact that the bilateral cooperative relations with the DPRK continue to develop favorably in various fields including politics, economy and culture.

They expressed full support for the Korean people in the struggle for building a powerful socialist country, realizing the independent reunification of the country and achieving peace on the peninsula and region, and stressed that it is the consistent policy of the African countries to invariably strengthen the ties of friendship with the DPRK.

In the period of the tour he agreed to activate the visits of delegations at several levels between the DPRK and the African countries, further expand cooperation in each field and closely support and cooperate with each other in the international arena.
