Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- A lecture was given in Tokyo on April 26 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Social Organizations in North and South Korea. Present there were So Chung On, director of the Department for International Affairs and Reunification of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, Ri Tong Je, chairman of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, Son Hyong Gun, chairman of the Japanese Regional Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, officials of Chongryon and Korean compatriots in Kanto area. A speech was made by Yun Pyok Am, vice-chairman of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, to be followed by the lecture. Kim Won Ung, co-representative of the Committee for Recovering Books that Record Royal Events Kept in the Room of the King of Korea, referred to the territorial division by outsiders and the U.S. moves to keep the Korean nation divided into two for an indefinite period after the liberation of Korea, and the unflinching struggle waged by south Koreans against the pro-Japanese and pro-U.S. conservative forces for the past over seven decades. Kang Min Hwa, vice-chairperson of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, said that in order to have a proper look at the situation on the Korean peninsula, it is important to have clear understanding of the bold decision made by the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who brought about the epochal turn in the north-south relations, the end to the theory of geo-political fate of the Korean peninsula which had been subject to distress as a theatre of scramble for power by big powers, and the true picture of Korea today. Kang appealed to the Koreans in Japan to fulfill their role as masters in the struggle for national reunification, stressing that the new dawn of reunification breaks only after the darkness of the division is removed by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation. There were lectures in Fukuoka, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nagoya in the period from April 21 to 25. |
