The President founded the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland (ARF), the permanent national united front organization, on May 5 in Juche 25 (1936) for the first time in the history of the Korean people's struggle for anti-Japanese national liberation, thus bringing about a turning point in achieving the great national unity.

The foundation of the ARF put fresh spurs to the whole range of the Korean revolution with an accent on the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

Shortly after its foundation, the ARF spread out its affiliated organizations from the northern part of Korea with the area of Mt Paektu as its center to the rest of Korea, vast area of northeast China and even Japan to be strengthened into the pan-national organization embracing hundreds of thousands of members.

Thanks to the great exploits performed by the President for the national united front movement and the tradition of great national unity he pioneered in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, the Korean people could turn out as one in building a new country after the liberation from Japan's colonial rule and win the victory in the three year-long Fatherland Liberation War.

The tradition of great national unity had been successfully carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il who ushered in the era of By Our Nation Itself and provided a sure guarantee of accomplishing the cause of great national unity pioneered by the President.

Now, the great exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for the great national unity are firmly adhered to and carried on by the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who inaugurates a new era of national concord and co-prosperity.
