U.S. Urged to Refrain from Acts and Words Marring Atmosphere of Dialogue

Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is playing down the historic significance of the inter-Korean summit at Panmunjom and the April 27 declaration, created by the proactive efforts of the DPRK, with such assertion that it is "result of maximum pressure" and "sustained sanctions and pressure should be maintained". Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun on Wednesday says it is a stupid behavior just like a saying that curses, like chickens, come home to roost. The world people are regarding such senseless remarks and behavior as the revelation of uneasiness and impatience of those who fear the anti-DPRK sanctions pressure might break into pieces in a moment by the trend of the international community actively supporting the summit and declaration, the commentary notes, and goes on: It is clear that those calling for "tightened and sustained sanctions and pressure" will not be welcomed wherever they go but meet failure and disgrace only, today when the improvement of the inter-Korean relations and detente and peace on the Korean peninsula have become an irresistible trend. The U.S. is persistently clinging to the hostile policy toward the DPRK, misleading the public opinion. Such behavior may result in endangering the security of its own country. Besides, such impudent action against its partner of dialogue when the mutual confidence is required ahead of it will not be good for the U.S., but will put it in a more difficult situation. The U.S. should refrain from making words and acts that may destroy the hard-won atmosphere of dialogue. It should be aware that doing so will benefit itself, too, and make every effort to show its sincerity in line with the present situation. |
