The institute has all the necessary facilities such as each kind of research laboratory, video conference room, tissue culture and habituation greenhouse as befitting an advanced center for pomiculture research.

Its inaugural ceremony took place on the spot on May 9.

Attending it were Pak Thae Dok, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ko In Ho, vice-premier and minister of Agriculture, Kim Tu Il, chairman of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kang Hyong Bong, chairman of the People's Committee of South Phyongan Province, and Kim Kang Uk, director of the Institute of Agricultural Science, and officials concerned, builders, employees of the institute and working people in the county.
