Various Turfs Registered as Garden Plant Species
Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Tens of species of turfs, bred by the Turf Branch Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, have been registered as the state garden plant species and cultivated in the DPRK.

Those species are highly resistant to cold and drought and needs little fertilizer with good ornamental effects.

Among them are Poa pratensis "Mangyong No. 1" and Agrostis stolonifera "Ryugyong Nos. 1 and 2" which have been widely cultivated in different parts of the country.

Dr. Choe Yun Su, director of the institute, told KCNA that the institute is pushing ahead with the project to breed new species of evergreen turfs with strong vitality and high ornamental value and spread them throughout the country by completing the methods of cultivating them, according to the strategy for the development of science and technology.
