Adjuvant for Fish Introduced

Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- "Wondong No. 1", an adjuvant for fish developed by the Microbiological Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK, has been introduced into fish-breeding at different units across the country, including the Samchon Catfish Farm and the Pyongyang Terrapin Farm, winning high appraisal. According to Ri In Chol, section chief of the institute, the adjuvant produced in a microbiological way is much higher than existing ones in medicinal and nutritive values. It raises not only the immunity of fish to various diseases but also its resistance to unfavorable conditions like high or low temperatures and low oxygen content. It also accelerates metabolism for the growth of fish. According to the result from its trial application to breeding rainbow-trout, terrapin, loach and other freshwater fishes, their survival rate was increased by over 20 percent and weight increment by 1.3 times than before. |
