S. Korea: Business Side's Restructuring Moves Condemned

Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The Taegu Headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Taegu Branch of the Metal Workers' Union in south Korea called a press conference outside the Taegu City Office on May 16 to protest the business side's scheme to scrap the agreement with the trade unions and enforce restructuring, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Chamsesang.

Speakers charged that the parts production enterprise side laid off 300 workers under the pretext of economic difficulty despite its promise not to do any restructuring without an agreement with the trade unions.

In case the business presses for the restructuring in violation of the agreement with the trade unions, it will foster conflicts between the trade unions and the business side, they warned.
