U.S.-S. Korean Military Drills Slammed in UK, Switzerland

Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- British and Swiss organizations made public joint statements on May 16 to condemn the U.S. and south Korean authorities for their large-scale joint military exercises. The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Korean Friendship Association UK and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula stated: We bitterly denounce the 2018 Max Thunder joint air combat drill aimed at preemptive strike upon the DPRK. The air combat drill is not only an undisguised challenge to peace but also an act of running counter to the Panmunjom Declaration, in which the north and the south of Korea agreed to totally stop all hostile acts against each other in all spaces including the ground, sea and air, the root cause of military tension and conflicts. The current military drill proves the U.S. imperialists' talk about "peace" is totally false. We strongly demand that the U.S. and south Korea immediately stop the joint air drill and sincerely respond to the DPRK's suggestion for peace. The Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said: The joint air combat drill, staged by the south Korean authorities with the U.S., is a naked challenge to the Panmunjom Declaration. Through military provocation the U.S. and the south Korean authorities are endangering the process of detente between the north and the south of Korea and between the DPRK and the U.S. The blame for suspended north-south high-level talks is entirely on the south Korean authorities. The U.S. had better think twice about the fate of the forthcoming DPRK-U.S. summit. |
