Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- The Global Environment Science Faculty of Kim Il Sung University in the DPRK recently developed the technology of making artificial seawater. Its research group set it as its goal to bring the chemical composition of artificial seawater closer to the standard composition of natural seawater and preserve its quality for a long time, and conceived an idea of making artificial seawater with home-made salt, solid bittern, sodium sulfate, etc. The group settled problems arising in ensuring osmotic pressure of artificial seawater and finalized the rational microelement content depending on its usage with no effect on its quality and the growth of sea creatures. And it confirmed that seawater has over 80 variations in its chemical composition according to area, season and depth. After making detailed analysis of the adaptability of sea creatures to the variations in chemical composition, the group succeeded in making artificial seawater appropriate to raising mammals like dolphin and migratory fishes. The result of its application to the Central Zoo and the Rungna Dolphinarium proved that it satisfies the qualitative indexes for the growth of marine animals. |
