River sections extending several hundred kilometers have been improved, millions cubic meters of earth dredged up and over one million square meters of riversides revetted throughout the country.

Pyongyang citizens took the lead in the general mobilization.

Mangyongdae District has improved the Sunhwa River and other rivers and streams to add beauty to their surroundings and Kangdong County carried out the several tens kilometer-long embankment along the Sujong Stream in ten days.

Sohung County in North Hwanghae Province improved river and stream sections extending ten-odd kilometers and turfed their banks.

Similar achievements have been witnessed in Unsan, Kujang, Kwaksan and other counties of North Phyongan Province and Sukchon County of South Phyongan Province.

Meanwhile, at least 160 hectares of bank-protecting forests were created across the country as part of the drive to spruce up riversides.
