When the water wheel is turned round by flowing water, water and air come to alternately flow into a spiral passage fixed at the wheel--that makes the compression of air continuously repeated, so that the pump can draw up water by dint of the compressed air.

The pump is capable of drawing several cubic meters of water up to 20 meters per hour at the flow speed of over one meter per second. And its delivery lift and discharge can be regulated as required by geographical conditions and users.

It has been introduced by cooperative farms and units in different parts of the country, proving effective.
