Process for Producing Micro-alloyed Steel Established
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- The Chollima Steel Complex in the DPRK increases the production of different high-quality alloy steels after establishing a process of micro-alloyed steel.

In this regard, Hwang Sun Nam, vice chief-engineer of the complex, told KCNA:

With the establishment of the process, the complex came to produce with locally available raw materials various steels necessary for making machine accessories like axles and gears of vehicles and vanes of feed-water pumps, not using chrome and nickel.

The complex has made sci-tech achievements like the establishment of process for producing micro-alloyed steel with locally available alloying elements in collaboration with the Ferrous Metal Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, thus contributing to putting the metal industry on a Juche basis.

It has already been proved through experiments that micro-alloyed steel is as good as chrome-nickel alloy steel in mechanical property and hot strength.

The process for producing micro-alloyed steel is of great economic value as it is easily applicable to the units having electric or induction furnaces.

The micro-alloyed steel is widely used at different industrial establishments including the Sungri Motor Complex and the Kumsong Tractor Factory.
