Lion Pagoda at Kumjang Hermitage
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- The lion pagoda is one of national heritages showing the ingenuity and talents of the Korean people.

It is a three-storied granite pagoda, carved in the early period of Koryo (918-1392), at the site of Kumjang Hermitage in Kumjang ravine of Naegumgang-ri, Kumgang County, Kangwon Province.

The 3.87 meter-high pagoda is propped up by granite lions sitting on their hind legs at every corner of a 49 centimeter-thick square pedestal.

The pagoda is of great importance in studying pagoda architecture and sculpture of Koryo.
