Waterway Project Progresses Apace in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- The second-stage waterway project has been pushed forward in South Hwanghae Province, the DPRK. According to data available, it has been completed to dig waterway tunnels, lay siphons, build spillway dams in over 10 places and install at least 70 culverts and other small structures. The second-stage project is a grand transformation of nature aiming at supplying enough water to Pongchon and Chongdan counties and the area of Ryongmaedo tideland in South Hwanghae Province, western coastal granaries of the country, through the gravity-fed waterway for increased yield as well as prevention of flood damage in the Ryesong River basin. Builders of North Hwanghae Province completed structures in five areas ahead of schedule by applying advanced methods. And those of Pyongyang City in charge of building reservoir dam finished revetting its drainage. |
