Present at the talks were a delegation of the north side led by Army Lieutenant General of the Korean People's Army An Ik San and a delegation of the south side with Major General Kim To Gyun as chief delegate.

At the talks both sides sincerely discussed all the issues in defusing the military tension and practically removing the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula and adopted a joint press release.

The joint press release notes that both sides exchanged full views on the issue of halting all hostile acts causing the military conflict, the issue of turning the hotspot waters in the West Sea into waters of peace, the issue of taking measures for militarily ensuring cooperation, exchange, visit and contact between the north and the south, the issue of demilitarizing the joint security area of Panmunjom on a trial basis, etc.

It also says that both sides reached a consensus of views on the issues of thoroughly implementing the agreement made at the north-south military talks on June 4, 2004 to prevent the conflict in the waters of the West Sea and of completely recovering the military communication in the areas near the East Sea and the West Sea, and agreed to continue discussing and settling the issues put at the current talks in the future.
