A ceremony of welcoming the president took place at Pyongyang International Airport.

The president and his party were greeted by Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the SPA Presidium, Jon Kwang Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Kil Song, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandr Vostrikov, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian embassy here, and Sun Hongliang, councilor of the Chinese embassy here.
