The site, located in a valley 2km northeast of the seat of Sadong-ri, covers an area of more than 17 000 square meters. It was ascertained to date back to the 11th century, part of Koryo period, through historical data and building disposition and excavated relics.

The discovery of this temple site made it possible to ascertain the features and change of temples in Koryo period and have a better knowledge of the cultural development at that time.

Meanwhile, a mural tomb found in the area of Jangsuwon-dong, Samsok District of Pyongyang City, has been registered as remains for preservation.

When unearthed, the tomb had signs of mural paintings on four walls, and mural pieces of the ceiling on its floor were found.

It goes to prove that mural tombs dating back to Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668) cover larger area of Samsok District than before.
