Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Big efforts have been paid to conserving and propagating marine resources in the DPRK for the sustainable development of fishing industry. The Institute of Fishery under the Ministry of Fisheries succeeded in artificially hatching out, breeding and stocking with fries of myongthae (Alaska Pollack), thus providing sci-tech guarantee for the steady increase of myongthae resources. In cooperation with the Ryonjin Fishery Station and other fishery stations under the North Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau, the institute developed a rational method of producing test-tube myongthae after confirming the period of roe collection and depth of seawater favorable for the growth of fries. It also made clear the growth characteristics of newly-hatched myongthae fries and scientifically ascertained the environmental influences on their survival rate. After completing the water supply system for the artificial propagation of myongthae, it put spurs into the research on determining the composition of compound food and its optimum consumption in every stage of raising fries. Meanwhile, the institute settled technical problems arising in artificial breeding of trepang to lay a material and technical foundation for stocking with hundreds thousands of its offspring. The respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address for this year said that the fishing front should effect an upswing and reenergize aquatic farming. |
